It is so hard to believe that we have almost finished week three! As you can imagine, week three is when you get all your ideas and then find out you have very little time to do anything!
We have a few ideas of what we can do for the next week..watch this space!

Last weekend we hiked up the Sani pass..well, drove most of the way before the truck got stuck in snow (!!), then hiked the rest of the way to Lesotho (one of the two ways into the country from SA). We were there long enough to have our passports stamped, get lunch, then hiked back down..certainly worth it though!

Yesterday we visited the other Be More projects which was very inspiring. Please keep a look out for the movie "Rough Aunties! which is a documentry about Bobbi Bear....unbelievable project!!

Everything else is going smoothly:) The kids are fantastic as always and I am dreading even more our last day.

I hope all is well with you!
Love
S
Thu, 06 Aug 09 14:21:31 +0200 Almost halfway through! http://shaunapowers.be-more.org/3/Almost%20halfway%20through%21.html
Hi all
Thanks for keeping up with the blog..nice to know you are reading it:)
We have all settled into more of a routine here and we are much more relaxed with the kids. It is lovely to spend so much time with them.

We visited one of the primary schools the other day, which was really interesting. It was origninally an Indian private school, but has now extended its enrolement, but is still privately funded. The classes have as many as 40 kids so it is really crowded, but they are all very well behaved.
Mark and I were asked to correct some of the homework in the grade 2 class, which was great.

This weekend we are going for a 2 day hike with the other volunteers, which should be great..although it means very early morning (5:30am)

I am sorry that I haven't been able to post any pics yet, but Mark may have some posted soon have. There are some pics posted on Emma's blog.

Hope everyone is keeping well!
Take care
Shauna
xx
Thu, 30 Jul 09 13:02:01 +0200 One week on! http://shaunapowers.be-more.org/2/One%20week%20on%21.html
Hi everyone!
Apologies for not writing sooner..thanks for waiting:)
Everything is fantastic here. The kids are great and we are having so much fun with them. Most of the day is spent looking after the little ones and then in the afternoon, helping the older ones with their homework. We are still trying to get a handle on all the names but it's coming slowly.
This past weekend, we had two days off, so we were able to travel up the coast to St.Lucia and Hluhluwe. Saturday we traveled down the lake to see crocs and hippos and the next day we spent on safari...many giraffes!!
Tomorrow night we will be having a group of the older girls over to cook dinner and watch videos, so we are looking forward to that.
Thanks for all your comments! It's great to hear from everyone! I will try to write again a little sooner this time!
Take care
Shauna
Mon, 27 Jul 09 14:13:37 +0200 Getting Ready to Go http://shaunapowers.be-more.org/1/Getting%20Ready%20to%20Go.html
Hi everyone
The count down is on and it has finally hit me that I will be in South Africa in three weeks! We have been planning this trip so long that it was easy to forget that it was actually going to happen!
I will update the blog as much as I can.
